Skip the black flash at the end of a looping video

When a song has a looping video for its background, you may see a short black flash at the end of the video, before it restarts.
This topic describes how to remove the black flash in VideoPsalm 1.27.

Not all looping videos produce a black flash, but if it happens, here is how to fix this.

The video loop plays in the background.

At the end, it may show a short black flash.

Method 1 to remove the black flash

1. Right-click the highlighted video in the video gallery:

The video assigned to the song is highlighted in the video gallery

2. In the popup menu that appears, adjust the black flash duration:

The default black flash duration is 500 ms.
Depending on your system and on the video (not all videos produce a black flash), adjust the black flash duration.

Method 2 to remove the black flash

Use the video range selector, at the song level, and move the range selector 1/2 a second to the left:

Method 2 is not as good, as method 1, because you will need to do it to each song you assign this background video to.

Thanks a lot for that solution, even if this bug is still rather annoying. Do you know what is the reason of these background videos problems?

Hi Jonathan,
The reason of the problem is related to the video library that VideoPsalm uses.
The problem will be properly solved in a future version of VideoPsalm, but alas I don't know when this will happen.

Hello, has the solution moved any further?
I can't seem to set the crop time so that on the one hand there is no black flash and on the other hand the video doesn't jump.
So I still have to use version 1.23.

I use netbook with windows 7 to operate Videopsalm. everything running well. but when i update v1.27, the video background is running blank/black. can you help me?

The video that plays when VideoPsalm starts up for some reason causes the laptop to freeze. Is it possible to stop it from showing the video or disable that feature?

Hi Sherry,

The following article describes how to remove the moving background assigned at the "Base" style level:

I guess that this article will not help you much, because your VideoPsalm may freeze before you can remove the video.

One way to fix this is as follows:
1. Close VideoPsalm
2. Open a Windows File Explorer.
3. Navigate to the following folder:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\VideoPsalm
4. Delete the following file:
RootStyle.json
