Show the song slide number in the footer

You may need to display the song slide number or other information in the footer or the header.
See the highlighted area in the below image for an example:

To display the song slide rank in the footer of every song verse:

1. Click the "Songbooks" button:
Picture

This will display the songbooks properties in the middle panel:

This panel enables you to set the header and footer templates.

2. Type-in following text template in the footer fields:

[Song title] ([Songbook abbreviation] [Song number])
Slide [Verse rank] of [Verse count]
[Church licence]

From now on, all song verses (unless their style specifies differently at a higher level) will be displayed with their verse rank and verse count:

The list of available template fields is described here.

3. Save your changes:

Remark 1 The songbooks properties available in the middle panel are a convenient way to setup the header and footer templates, globally for all songs.
However, the header and footer templates are part of the VideoPsalm cascading style properties.
This means that you can setup these properties at any style level, in the Style explorer.

Remark 2 For "Lower third" use, set the header and footer size and location accordingly.

Remark 3 Bible verses have distinct header and footer templates.
You can setup their field templates like you do for songbooks.

VideoPsalm is an amazing piece of software which I love using, but I've never been able to make the "Show Slide Number" feature work correctly.
It displays the Slide Number but doesn't show the total number of slides - instead it shows the number of the current verse., so Slide 1 of 1, Slide 2 of 2, etc. Where there is a Chorus, it displays Slide of (blank) and increases the slide number by 1, and if I have a verse split over 2 slides the first number (slide number) increases so we get Slide 4 of 2, slide 6 of 3, etc.

Is there any way we can get either:
[Slide number] of [total number of slides in song], OR
[Verse Number] of [number of last verse].
The second option is less useful because it doesn't take account of choruses, bridges, etc. but unless I'm doing something wrong, the current offering is useless.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your question, it makes a lot of sense.

Could you try with the following template:
[Verse rank] of [Verse count]
I believe that it is what you are looking for.

I have used Video Psalm for a few years, and I am struggling to get the Headers and Footers to work correctly, I keep trying different things but nothing seems to work correctly. I have watched various videos on this subject but find it all to confusing. I have also listened to Mark where he shows how this is done but cant follow it, I am nearly pulling my hair out, but won't give in. All I want to do is have the song title with the songbook abbreviation and the song number at the top of the first song first verse slide, and then on the last verse of each song, I want to display the song Author, and copyright, but I can't seem to make the changes without it appears to corrupt what it shows on the slide, any help would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks Chris

Hi Chris
I love VideoPsalm, but like you I found that occasionally I couldn't work out how to make something work the way I wanted. Try this and see if it helps.

Firstly, note that you can't have different content in the Header for the first and last slides. Use the Header for you Song Title, etc. and the Footer for your Copyright notice.

In the header bar at the top of the screen, click the Edit tab, then click on OPTIONS in the toolbar, then SONGBOOKS on the left of the Options window.
You'll now see the content of the Header and Footer fields.
Start with a clean slate by clicking the arrow beside Insert a Field, and select the 3rd item - Delete all Fields.
Now setup the items you want to display in the header by selecting them from the dropdown list.
Now click the arrow beside Visibility, and tick the First Slide box. Remove any ticks from Middle and Last Slide boxes.

Now do the for the Footer fields, adding the Copyright field, and this time ticking only Last Slide box.

At the bottom of the page click Apply and OK.

You may need to alter font sizes or change alignments to suit your own needs or preferences. Probably the easiest way is using the Text toolbar. Just select the Header or Footer style buttons, make the changes you require, then hit the floppy disc icon above the toolbar to save your changes.

Finally, if you still have layout problems, on the Text toolbar, click the yellow/blue Resize icon. You can now adjust the size of your Header, Footer and body text areas to suit you needs.

Best wishes
Bob
