How to loop a Microsoft PowerPoint from within VideoPsalm

6/9/2014

VideoPsalm can automatically loop through the slides of songs, Bible verses, slideshow images and Microsoft PowerPoint slides.

To loop a PowerPoint through VideoPsalm, use the VideoPsalm embedded loop feature.
The Microsoft PowerPoint embedded loop feature is disabled when you play a PowerPoint through VideoPsalm.

Do as follow:

  • Set the PowerPoint agenda item flow type to “Loop” (by default, it is set to “Advance manually”):

  • Alternatively, you can right-click on an agenda item and select “Loop”.
In this menu, you also can set the interval:

The right-click menu enables you to set the flow type of all selected agenda items at once.

Please use the contact form in case of any question.

Hi Roland,

PowerPoint requirements
In order for VideoPsalm to control a PowerPoint presentation, Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 or higher must be installed on your PC.

Notably, VideoPsalm cannot make use of the PowerPoint Viewer.

It is advised to use a recent version of PowerPoint, even a trial version will do.

When you install Microsoft Office on the PC, make sure to select all the setup options.
Indeed, the standard options do not include the interoperability with third party software like VideoPsalm.

The MS-Office trial version will expire eventually, putting PowerPoint in a reduced functionality mode (no more edit).
You will still be able to display PowerPoint presentations with it, which is great.

Download the MS-Office 1 month trial at Microsoft from their official page, here (and don't forget to install all components):

Please let me know how you solved the problem.

Any Office 2003 or higher DOES NOT WORK. I did download Office 365 and it worked perfectly. I then deleted 365, installed Office 16 so we wouldn't have to pay full price (charitable program from MS) and IT DOES NOT WORK. Seems the only version that WILL WORK is Office 365.

Well, that's what I did. It was MS Office 2016 Standard, but it installed with everything Or, would only Office Pro work? There are several versions of Office for any given Edition.

Hi Don,

No, Office Standard should work also.
Hopefully this will be solved in VideoPsalm 1.24.

Well, should and will are two different things. I'm an experienced user and MS Office (Standard Edition) with all options installed does not work.

I am trying out this software. Works pretty well. Am having trouble with looping a Powerpoint deck. It is made in Office 365 and being played on another computer also running Office 365. No looping set inside of the Powerpoint deck.

I inserted a simple image ahead of the Ppt deck in the agenda as the first item.

Next, I insert the Powerpoint into the agenda and rt-click and set it to loop; rt-click and set interval to 3 sec, click the checkbox next to seconds.

Next item is Bible verse

Next is a song.

Place agenda cursor on first item in agenda.

Run 'Present'.

1. I see the Base bkgrd image. [spacebar]
2. Now the first item, a simple image is displayed [spacebar]
3. Now my first slide in the PPT deck is displayed. Nothing happens.
4. [spacebar] now #2 slide in PPT deck displays. Wait 3 seconds. It displays #1 slide and sits there.
5. Hit [spacebar] a lot of times and with each hit, the slides advance 1-by-1 in order. Now wait... now the slides start displaying backwards order from where I stopped, back to slide 1. For example if I hit spacebar 25 times, it's on slide 26, 3seconds, slide 25, 3seconds, slide 24, 3 seconds, slide 23, and so on till it reaches, slide 1. Then it stops and sits there.

Running VideoPsalm version 1.23 on Win 7 64bit.

Any ideas? thanks.

Hi Bev,

Thank you for describing the PowerPoint problem.
I could reproduce the problem and it will be solved in the next VideoPsalm.
Version 1.24 will solve several problems related to the display of PowerPoints.
