How to edit / correct a slide during the presentation

9/29/2013

Spelling mistakes that are particularly troublesome are those displayed to hundreds of people, who read them all at the same time, while singing...

So, what is needed to correct a slide during the presentation? It requires a bit of dexterity, but ultimately nothing more than a keyboard, a mouse, and a few seconds:
1. If VideoPsalm is not yet in “Edit” mode, go into it by clicking on the “Pencil” Button at the right of the screen.
The text editor opens in the central panel. It displays the song lyrics, and enables you to edit them freely, even during the presentation.
Do you see the spelling mistakes? They are highlighted in red:

In this example, the first chorus is already displayed, and its spelling mistake too, alas...

2. But it is not too late to react: there is plenty of time to correct the other mistakes while the assistance is singing the current slide.
In case the corrections take more time than expected, promptly display the next verse, while making further corrections.

I must say that I really appreciate this feature. In practice, I often use it to split too long verses in two, by inserting a blank line at the right place, usually at the end of a sentence.
Splitting a long verse in two slides enables the people at the back of the room to see better.

Tip  To refresh a live slide that you just edited, double-click on it.
It is the only occasion where you need to double-click on a slide.

How do I keep the presentation on the screen while making the changes? I have not been ble yo figure that out. Not sure if I need more equipment or different hook ups. I use my windows based computer and an hdmi cable that connects to 2 different TVA with a splitter. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

how come on some of the presentation slides the verses show real small fonts and the 2nd. slide or course will be a good font size to read.
for instance. Because He Lives song. 1st verse real small, (hard to read on Tv screen.) 2nd.verse nice large size. i cant find a way to enlarge the small verses. some songs are fine. nice large fonts. Are you washed in the blood is a good example of how all songs should show. thank you. Can you import your own songs from other programs such as OnSong or SongSheet. Thank You. would be nice to be able to use foot pedals also.

Hi Don,

The reason why some verses are in a smaller font could be related to the "Word wrap" setting.

To adjust this setting for all song verses:

1. Select the "Songbooks" style level.
2. Set the "Automatic word wrap" setting.

I am having difficulties editing slides. After clicking on the pencil button, all I get in the middle pane is a blank pane. The highlighted slide does not show up on the edit pane at all. It remains blank

Hi Elijah,

It is difficult to understand what does not work, without having a screen shot.

Also, please make sure that you use the latest VideoPsalm version.

VideoPsalm versions are compatible between them.
You can install a newer version or uninstall an old version, this will not remove or overwrite your songs, Bibles, images, videos, settings, etc.

Please send me a screen shot demonstrating the problem at my email at gmail, this will enable me to help you more.

Hello. I really appreciate the efforts you put in developing this amazing software, it is just outstanding. Please, why is it that the Preview screen in the Edit mode does not work as expected. I mean, I type a new song, but instead of it to show as I type and format it, the preview screen just remains the same, not making me see how clear what I have been preparing is, any help please?

While in EDIT mode editing your new song, the changes won't be showing up in real time until you double click the verse you are editing

Hi, we have been using OpenLP and are in the process of moving over to VideoPsalm. One thing that I am having difficulty with is editing. I need to be able to insert page/slide breaks and can't find anyway of being able to do that. How do you split slides into two or more slides at any given point/possition?

Hi Eugene,

To insert a slide break, simply type-in a new line (Carriage Return) where necessary.
Is this OK for you?

To insert a blank line between two lines, put a blank (a space) character on the empty line.

VideoPsalm uses the concept of cascading style attributes, enabling you to define in a few clicks the style at any level : song verse, song, songbook, all songbooks, base.

The following articles describe some cascading styles scenarios (the articles often consider the background, however the same principle applies to all style settings like font, colors, font size, etc.):
