How to display and setup the stage view

1/25/2022

This topic describes how to setup the stage view/confidence monitor, versus the presentation screen.

The stage view, also called "confidence monitor", is a specific display designed for the people on stage, that can show more or different things than what people attending the service are seeing.

What is a confidence monitor?

To display the stage view:

1. In the top tool bar, select the "Message" tab and click the "Display" button in the "Stage view" group:

This displays the stage view window:

1. Dialog title
This area enables you to move the window with your mouse to a dedicated monitor or location on your screen.
Normally, you will want to move this dialog to a third monitor/HDMI/VGA output.

2. Maximize button
Normally, you will want to maximize the window so that it occupies the whole screen surface.

3. The currently displayed slide title (in this example, SOF #2719)

4. The currently displayed slide content (in this example, verse 2 lyrics)

5. The currently displayed slide type (Verse, chorus, etc.).

6. The song progress (verse 1, 2, 3, etc.)

7. The next song title (empty at the moment, because the next slide is still the same song).

8. The next slide content (in this example, verse 3 lyrics)

9. The next slide type

10. The current time

Move/resize this window to the adequate screen or location, and maximize it if necessary.

The stage view "Settings" button enables to select the font size and color and other settings.

To open the stage view settings, press the "Settings" button in the "Stage view" group:

This opens the stage view settings dialog:

Adjust the font size, font color, bold, italic, underline and font background to your liking.

You may want to hide the stage view screen borders, next slide, slide footer, progression and time.

Would it be possible to have left, right and centre formatting on the stage monitor? I am picking up that feed on obs to put on my lyrics onto my livestream. However with the formatting on left only it just looks slightly off. Using this I am able to have my projector feed with its background images and text for the church and just a text overlay in obs

Hi Ian,
Version 1.27, due around January 2021, will have left, right and center formatting, as well as bold, italic and underline.

It would be wonderful to have full customization of the stage display, but this is very nice! Thank you for adding this, I know you’re working on this as you can.

Is it possible to display song chords in Stage view as well? I'm running version 1.26 and can't see such option.

Thx

Hi Michal,

The stage view cannot display chords at the moment.
Hopefully this will be available in a future version.

This is exactly what I am hoping for. It would be so great to have chords available for stage view and be able to turn the chords off on the main presentation screen. I guess I am wanting the ability to toggle chord display on and off for stage view independently of the Presentation screen.

I am not sure if this feature I am thinking is already available. On our church we are using videopsalm for normal usage with a projector. Now, I was just thinking if it is possible on the current version that when we have a third display, and on that 3rd monitor(for music ministry use), we display lyrics with chords and on the projector(2nd monitor) we display lyrics only. Thanks!

I'm also eagerly waiting for this feature... After this I feel Videopsalm needs to go ☁ so that we can edit from wherever we are without the need of using the church's laptop/desktop only

I'm not too sure if i have the most updated version. I am on 1.26a nd it says it's up to date. My stage view settings only shows font type, font color, background color, font size, hide screen borders and display next slide only

It doesn't have Horizontally or Vertically options as well as Show footer, show progress, with bullets, with abbreviations, and show time. time

Hi - and first, so many thanks for your really, really practical display software!! It is SO practical and helpful...!! And SO much appreciated that you choose to share it freely, too!! I ran this in a home meeting living room on Sunday, on their television flatscreen, with my guitar and just myself controlling the laptop for song page-change, etc....Easy to grab the scriptures, too... :-D
I just want to add my voice to those already looking forward to the song chords on/ off for Stage view. That will be great! You wrote it should be in v1.2.8... - any idea yet when you might be ready to release a beta of that - or - even if you could run a 'beta 1' of that choice, then a 'beta 2' of other changes you are working on.. ??
Not to hassle you... but asking hopefully... ;-))
BIG thanks already!! - Mike
Just supporting the other requests for the chords to be displayed - or not - in Stage view - and as you previously commented that it should be in '1.2.8' - just wondering if you have an idea of when you might be ready to 'beta' that?

The stageview feature is really awesome and I wanted to check if there can be more than one stageview when the stage is bigger with multiple choir people standing.

We use mobile phones and tablets to extend the laptop screen on these devices using spacedesk application.

I don't think there is such an option right now, but if you're using multiple displays on a windows computer, there is a possibility to duplicate the displays you want to share the same view and extend to the other displays. I don't know how this works with Spacedesk, but maybe you can look into the Spacedesk or Windows settings to see if you can duplicate them.

Or maybe you could move stage view window to virtual desktop (windows 10 feature) and then share it to spacedesk. I personally haven't tried it so it's just an idea.

Hi there,
I was wondering if there will be a possibility to show things as the PowerPoint slides and videos on the stage display. Now the people on the podium have to look backwards at the main display to see whether the right slide is on or not. Maybe that will be a good thing for the next version?

Hi Edvin,
To change the switch off screen background:
1. In the top toolbar, in the "Text" tab, at the left, select the "Base" style level.
2. In the "Images" gallery, select the background image or the color that you need.

Hi Olise,
Thank you for requesting a multi output support.
This feature is in the list of things to do, and your request adds weight to it.
However, I don't know yet when it will be available.

At the moment, you can use the VideoPsalm stage view and extract the text with a chroma key with an app like OBS Studio.

How does this work, please? I can't find anything about it on the VideoPsalm website.
