Display an animated alert message at the bottom of the screen

6/5/2015

At times, it is necessary to inform the audience with an impromptu message.
To perform this task, use the tools in the "Message" tab:
  1. Click the "Message" tab.
  2. Type-in your message, or get it back from the drop-down list to recall a previous message.
  3. Click the "Display message" button.
Photo
VideoPsalm displays the message with an animation coming from the right:

It is possible to set following message parameters:
  • Font
  • Font size
  • Bold, italic, underlined
  • Font color
  • Background color
  • Transparency

The messages that you type-in are stored in the drop-down list, from where you can quickly get one back the next time when you need it.

Display a clock behind the lyrics

The highlighted button displays different clock models under the lyrics:

Well I just updated my program but i wanted to know how can i make the message at the bottom flow as in if its a long message then it would flow to the side until the entire message is viewed and it would start again and again. I don't know if you are understanding what I am trying to say. blessings.

Hi Kelzie,
Thank you for your suggestion, it makes a lot of sense.
Your suggestion is already in the todo list, and will be available in one of the next versions.
Do you have an example of a "long message"?

At the moment, a workaround is to reduce the message font size so that it fits in the whole line.

And is it possible in the next version that you can choose the size of the digital and analog clock? Now, you see the clock all over the screen. And if you have a small one, that you can choose to put it, f.i., in the left or right corner in the bottom or top. Or in the middle top, bottom, centre.

Hi Collins,

I guess that this will be improved in the next version, however I don't know exactly when it will be available.

A workaround is to reduce the message font size so that it fits in the whole line.

Please could you mention here an example of such a long message, just to make sure that we are not talking about displaying an announcement.

To display announcements, please let me know if the following article explains well enough how to create them:

Your example may also help in better designing how the operator will type-in a "long" message.

Hi Prashanth,

To systematically display any Bible verses together with a specific translation:

1. Click on the Bible that you always want to display together with any Bible verses.

2. In the middle panel, select the "Always display dualy (bilingual)" option:

3. Save your changes.

Note that by default, changes that you make to Bibles are not saved.
You can enable the saving of Bible changes in the VideoPsalm settings.

Maybe I've asks this already, but with so much suggestions, I don't know if I asks this. Anyway. I used different projector programs like Openlp, Opensong, Easislides, but each of them is missing something. A clock or you can project one bible translation, etc. But with Openlp I saw that you can make a list of how many times a song is used or has song this year. Is ithis also possible? Using the playlist (keep it and don't throw it away and used it to calculate which song has sung the most in 2015.

Hi Jan,

Yes, the idea is to keep all the playlists ("agendas").
By default, VideoPsalm names the agenda by the next Sunday date.

To report your song usage to CCLI:

1. Open the agendas. VideoPsalm can open many agendas at the same time.

2. Press the "Copy to Clipboard" button.

3. Paste the Clipboard content into Excel and send the list to CCLI.

Please let me know if the following article explains well enough how to create your song usage report for CCLI SongSelect:
http://myvideopsalm.weebly.com/blog/how-to-create-your-song-usage-report-for-ccli-songselect

This mechanism has room for improvement, and I am sure that you will appreciate even more how it easy it will become in one of the next versions.

Also, I would like to know, how can I do to project a song on the screen and go back and edit something without the church seeing what I am doing. For example if a song is on, and I am touching next next next but if another song comes on that was not in my agenda how can I quickly add it without taking off the song that's on the screen but fixing something in the background.

Hi Kelzie,

To protect the slide panel (at the top-right) against changes that you may do in the meantime to the agenda (at the top-left), press the "Shield" button at the right of the slide panel.
While the "Shield" button is pressed, you can edit the agenda safely.
The active "Shield" is displayed in a red color.
When you are done with the agenda editing, release the shield.
While the shield is on, you can force the display of an agenda item into the slide panel by double-click on its agenda item.

Does this work for you?

Hi William,

Aside of other features, the next VideoPsalm (1.17) will be able to natively control more file formats:
PDF, Word, LibreOffice Write and Calc, Excel, html, live web sites (an internet connection is required), YouTube video (an internet connection is required), as well as audio files with backgrounds.
It won't be necessary to install a PDF reader, Word and Excel to display such content.

Hopefully it will have a "Stage view" feature too, as well as digital clocks and enhanced scroll message line.

There is no planed release date though.

One thing I'd love to see is a timer setting for a message so when I click Display Message, I can set it to automatically turn off after 10 seconds or something so I don't have to go back and manually click it off.

We use the Display Message to put up a blurb for when the kids are dismissed to go to the children's sermon which is generally in the middle of a song. It'd be one less thing I have to click on. :)

The digital clock/countdown is good. However, it displays in 24/hr time instead of 12/hr (AM or PM) style. Also if it is 5:00, it shows 05:00. would be nice if this could be changed. Thank you for all the hard work. The program is well done. Making the clock/countdown movable would be great also.

If you can have a setting to display another digital clock at the bottom right or top right of the screen in small font (adjustable) at all times it would be great. There are times when or Worship leader or Pastor forgets the time and forgets to look at their watch.

I really congratulate you for the work done. My suggestion was that while echoing the congregational songs or bible reading on a live video, i am suggesting you create an option where song&bible verses can been show under not at top or middle. i tried to modify a verse but immediately i choose another verse, i discovered that the first setting does not apply to previous setting.

Let me explain it in this way; create an option where a setting on a verse to be project on the screen should be apply to all i.e, if i want all my congregation songs and bible verses to be shown below, let that setting apply until i decide to change it.

i hope you understand me? your setting are not fix, i.e you change how you want the verses to be show all the time instead of a setting to apply through out the project

Hi Ray,

Thank you for your feedback.

VideoPsalm's load time depends on a number of parameters, for example the number of images, videos and Bibles that it contains.
Also, make sure that you use the latest VideoPsalm version, 1.23.

The start time will be shorter in VideoPsalm 1.24, available in a few weeks time.
For 7000 songs, 210 images, 150 videos and 28 Bibles :
VideoPsalm 1.23 : 25 s
VideoPsalm 1.24 : 15 s

I will be more than happy to help you find a solution to the difficulties that you mentioned.
Please describe them either here in the forum, or better, via an email at VideoPsalm's gmail account, from where we can share screenshots, etc.

To display a message at the bottom of the screen:
1. In the toolbar at the top, select the "Message" tab.
2. In the "Message" group, type-in your message.
3. To display the message, press the "Display" button.

Does this work for you?
Please send me an email at my gmail account.

Hi Adebayo,

Thank you for requesting a better message and clock display.
You request adds weight to these features and they will be implemented in one of the next versions.

Hi, I noticed a question/request from 2015 that was added to the todo list regarding an option of a smaller clock that can be located in various areas of the screen.

I notice this is yet to be implemented. Is this still on the todo list?

P.S I really really appreciate all the work that goes into this programme. It's an absolutely great piece of software.

Hi Craig,

Thank you for requesting a better clock for VideoPsalm.
This feature is not implemented yet, and will be available in one fo the next versions, however I don't know when exactly.
Your request adds weight to this feature.

I really love this software. thank you a lot for your effort and maintaining this application.
It would be interesting if you can make the "ALERT MESSAGE" to scroll at the bottom in one line and loop until you stop it. I do really need this function for our church. God Bless you All

God bless you and reward your work on this wonderful application ...
A customizable version of the watch would be a welcome feature, as would the ability to call this feature via a shortcut.
Also the alert area with (long) streamlined text support would be welcome.
God Bless you...

Hello, is possible to change the position of the clock? or to display it in the footer/header? It would be nice if there would be a option to always have the clock displayed in a part of the screen. Thank you

Hi, I wanted to know when it comes to the alert messages if in the new version it'll be able move rather than it taking up space on the screen. Like how we see in the News at the bottom.

Also but this is a continuation. That it would be a settings options if we wanted it the alert message or announcement to stay still or move like how we see it in the News at the bottom so that we can still be able to project Bible verse or songs. That's why I'm saying to making it an option kindly.

Good afternoon great minds and thinkers, to all the front ends and back end programmers, great work I must comment and commend your timely and seasoned commitment to this project.
nevertheless, my suggestion will be to the fact that can the header or footer be able to accept any format like jpeg, png, gifs, txt, etc.
thanks
looking forward to such great innovation and trial Sirs and Mas.

I tried reading through comments posted prior but did not find the answer. Or maybe missed it.
But for clock has feature been added to instead of showing 24hr format to a 12hr format? I have no problem but not all get military time. Or am I missing something on the settings?

I have 1.27 and don't see the option to move the countdown clock to the bottom of the screen. Am I missing something? Can you please explain how to move the clock to the bottom of the screen because it's not in the settings options.

Hi Angel,

It is not possible to directly export the songs of a songbook.

However, what you can do is this:
1. Add the songs to the agenda.
2. Copy a description of the agenda:

[Copy a description of the agenda.png]

Make sure that the "Include the song lyrics" option is selected.

To quickly add songs to the agenda, use the "Insert" keyboard shortcut, or double-click the songs in their songbook.
